As reported earlier, on 6 September President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov arrived in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, with an official visit at the invitation of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbaev.

Within the visit, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Kazykhanov held talks in Astana.

During the meeting, the sides discussed current state and perspective directions of bilateral relations, interaction within the international organizations and exchanged opinion on current situation in Central Asia.

At the end of the meeting, the ministers signed the programme of cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan for 2012-2014.
