Uzbekistan 04/11/2007 Uzbek, Iranian deputy foreign ministers discuss regional issues

 A deputy foreign minister of Uzbekistan has described Iran’s role in establishing stability and security in the region as positive and very important.

A report by IRNA from Tashkent says that at a meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Asian, Pacific and Commonwealth of Independent States affairs Mehdi Safari in Tashkent yesterday, the Uzbek deputy foreign minister, Shoazim Munavvarov, also urged to exchange more views on regional and international issues between the authorities of the two countries.

At a meeting with Anvar Solihboyev, deputy head of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry’s [department] for Shanghai affairs, the deputy foreign minister of Iran also exchanged views on procedures for (joining?) the SCO and Iran’s presence in this organization as a permanent member.

Mehdi Safari and a delegation accompanying him are visiting Tashkent to attend the sixth session of the prime ministers of the SCO member states.
