Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 19 September, 2024, Tashkent hosted an Uzbek-Iranian business forum, bringing together over 200 representatives from the business circles of both countries.
The event was organized with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, the Uzbek Embassy in Tehran, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Tashkent city administration. The Iranian delegation was led by Samad Hasanzadeh, President of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture.
In his speech, Davron Vakhabov, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, emphasized the importance of such meetings for strengthening economic ties and noted that the current forum would serve as a catalyst for further deepening cooperation.
He highlighted that Uzbekistan’s exports of chemical products to Iran reached US$12.8 million, a 1.7-fold increase compared to the previous period. Additionally, imports of plastic from Iran to Uzbekistan grew by 1.4 times, totaling US$112 million. The focus was placed on Uzbekistan’s investment potential and promising areas for development across various sectors, including industry, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and logistics.
During the event, participants discussed specific projects and held B2B meetings. The Iranian delegation is also expected to meet with representatives of Uzbek ministries and visit free economic zones. The visit will culminate in a joint business forum in Khiva on 20 September 2024.
