Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis passed the law on 12 August 2010 and Senate approved it on 28 August 2010.

The document was developed in line with the presidential decree “On measures on further improvement of notary institute in Uzbekistan” on 5 May 2010.

The law is directed at protecting rights and interests of individuals and legal entities. The law introduces changes and amendments to Administrative Responsibility Code, Civil Procedure Code, Family Code, Tax Code and other legal acts.

Changes and amendments to law “On notary” envisage that notary action in Uzbekistan carried out by notary offices, working in the state notary offices. This should ensure reliable protection of citizens’ rights.

The law envisages strengthening requirements to notary officers’ skills, introduction of system on mandatory improving skills of notary officers, setting legal status and requirements to notary offices.
