Uzbek Gov’t approves tourism development programme in Samarkand region
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan adopted a programme of targeted measures on developing tourism and increasing export potential of tourism service in Surkhandarya region for 2011-2012.

According to Uzbektourism, it is planned to direct 24.8 billion soums to implementation of the programme.

In this connection, it is planned to carry out wide-scale restoration of historic monuments, develop hotel sector, tourism infrastructure, popularize tourism potential of the region and train skilled employees.

The programme pays attention to accomplishments of territories of tourism objects, repair road, restore historic monuments, etc. It is planned to beautify territories of Shakhi Zinda, Registan complex and Hoja Ahror Vali mosque.

Repair works will be conducted at automobile roads, near Saint David complex in Nurabad district, Gavsul Azam in Urgut district, Hoja-omon and Shirvoq ota. Afrosiab museum will be reconstructed as well.

The programme envisages construction of six new hotels with 200 rooms and modernization of 17 hotels. It is planned to buy 5 tourism buses and construct two pools. It also include measures on reconstruction of parks.

In Urgut district, it is planned to create resort zones in territory of Mironqul village, Qora Tepa rural area, Qizi-Turik village. Ming Archa resort zone will be reconstructed.

New roadside infrastructures will be built along Tashkent-Samarkand, Samarkand-Bukhara and Samarkand-Qarshi highways, which will create comfortable conditions for tourists.
