Uzbek government toughens requirements to drivers
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan toughened requirements to training of drivers, participating in transportation of cargo and passengers.

Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan adopted a resolution, which introduced changes to order of issuing driving licenses and training of drivers.

In line with the document, number of people in groups on training and re-training of drivers was decreased from 30 to 25.

The document also banned people, who trained independently, to participate in exams for driving licenses of category A (motorbikes, scooters, etc).

Candidates now should submit 3x4 images to receive driving license and coupon to it. At the same time, candidates should be in civil clothes in image.

The Government of Uzbekistan also toughened order of participating in recurring exams for driving licenses. Candidates, who cannot pass exams twice, should pass additional lessons for at least of 5 hours.

Candidates should pass training and re-training of educational establishments, if they cannot pass exam for driving license within six months.

Now, candidates can receive driving license of D category if they have 3 year experience of driving vehicles of B and C category and they undergo training at educational establishments and successfully pass theoretical and practical exams.

The document also set that drivers, who has five year experience of driving, could render passenger transportation services on commercial basis with four seat vehicles, excluding driver’s seat, but those are not of D category.

It added that drivers, who drove vehicle of D category, could drive buses and microbuses of international and inter-city passenger transportation.

To receive driving license of CE and DE categories, drivers should have two-year driving experience of vehicle of corresponding category and successfully passed practical exams.

The document said that drivers, holding D driving license, should pass practical exams at long buses to receive DE driving licenses.

The government also toughened requirements to drivers independently transporting passengers in city, suburb, inter-city and international routes. Now drivers should pass practical exam and have driving experience of driving D category transport for 60 hours and those without driving experience – 224 hours.
