Uzbek Government forecasts 8% GDP growth in 2013
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan forecasted that the growth of the gross domestic product (GDP) will make up 8% in 2013. This was announced at the session of the Committee of Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan on budget and economic reforms.

The session said that industrial production will grow by 8.4% in 2013, agricultural output – by 6% and capital investments – 9.3%.

Macroeconomic growth and improving well-being of population will be ensured due to modernization of economy, support of business entities, small and private businesses, decreasing tax burden and improving investment climate.

It was noted that preferences on taxes and other mandatory payments, provided to small businesses, helped for further modernization of production, development of businesses, expanding services, ensuring employment and growth of income of population. In connection with this, main direction of tax policy for 2013 offers to keep current income tax rates, tax for accomplishment and social infrastructure, single tax payment for microfirms and small businesses, value added tax, and other mandatory payments.

At the same time, it is planned to cut minimal rate of income tax for individuals by one percentage point. This will allow to decrease tax burden to all tax payers, especially for those with low income. This will help tax payers to save 186 billion soums.

Due to further unification of indirect taxes and resource it is planned to increase total income of the State Budget from 65.5% to 66.8%. In the result of implementation of measures, envisaged in tax policy concept, tax burden to economy will fell by 0.3%.

The session noted that the concept of budget policy for 2013 will be focused to social support of population and implementation of measures on gradual increasing the size of salaries of employees of budget organizations, pensions, stipends and social payments to ensure further improving well-being of population.

MPs underlined that the concepts of tax and budget policies, as well as draft of State Budget for 2013 envisages implementation of complex of measures directed at stimulating internal demand despite global financial and economic crisis. The main tasks, determined at the draft state budget for 2013, is to ensure stable development of Uzbekistan and improving well-being of population.

At the session, MPs received answers to their questions from corresponding ministries and departments. The committee adopted corresponding decision.
