During the years of independence strong relations have been established, like in other spheres, in the defence system between Uzbekistan and Germany. In all, 12 normative legal documents have been signed in this sphere to date. They serve as a legal basis for cooperation between the two countries in the defence system. This was discussed at the meeting and German Minister of Defence Franz Josef Jung was briefed on the large-scale reforms carried out in Uzbekistan in the defence field, particularly the work done to create a compact and strong army.
For his part, Franz Josef said that he was aware of the efforts made during the years of independence in Uzbekistan to create a modern army and create a strong defence system and that these activities were praiseworthy. He also spoke about Germany’s current defence potential and activities being carried out in this field, as well new reforms. The meeting mainly focused on military cooperation between the states and regional security.
