Uzbek FM takes part in the ointernational Conference within the framework of "One Belt, One Road"

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 23 June 2021, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov took part in an online high-level international conference on interaction between the countries of the Asia-Pacific region within the framework of "One Belt, One Road" on the theme "Strengthening anti-epidemic cooperation in the interests of economic development”.

The heads of government and foreign affairs agencies of the APR countries, Central and South Asia, representatives of international organizations also took part in the work of the international forum.

In his speech, A. Kamilov noted the demand in the current situation for new proposals and initiatives to strengthen cooperation aimed at overcoming the consequences of the pandemic as soon as possible, restoring economic growth and achieving long-term sustainable socio-economic development.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan acquainted the participants with the systemic measures taken by the Government of Uzbekistan to counter the spread of coronavirus infection and improve the health care system, thanked foreign partners for close interaction and mutual support during the pandemic.

The Minister highlighted the importance of sustainable environmental development on the path to a "green economy". In this context, it was noted that the "green" recovery in Central Asia is closely related to solving the negative consequences of the drying up of the Aral Sea and improving the conditions and quality of life of the population of the Aral Sea region.

As a result of the conference, its participants reaffirmed their commitment to constructive interaction to achieve the goals of the UN Agenda for Sustainable Development for the period up to 2030.
