Vladimir Norov paid a visit to Ashkhabat, capital of Turkmenistan, to participate at inauguration of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA).
Speaking at the meeting, Mr Norov delivered warm greetings and congratulations of the Uzbek President Islam Karimov on occasion of launch of the UNRCCA in Ashkhabad.
In his turn, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov addressed his best wishes to the Uzbek leader and confirmed Turkmenistan’s adherence to friendly and close cooperation between two neighbouring states.
The Uzbek Foreign Minister praised foreign policy of Turkmenistan and noted the importance of inauguration of the UNRCCA.
The sides noted that the agreements between two states are important to develop relations in cultural-humanitarian, transport, tourism, agriculture and other spheres. The sides noted with satisfaction of the work of the Turkmen-Uzbek intergovernmental commission.
The officials of two states considered cooperation of two countries in strategic fuel-energy sector. The sides underlined importance of the joint declaration of Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan on reconstruction of existing gas pipelines and construction of gas pipeline between Turkmenistan and China through Uzbekistan.
At the end of the meeting, the sides expressed their assurance to continue constructive partnership, which will be boosted during upcoming visit of Turkmen president to Tashkent.
