The project is supporting further reforms in the public financial management in Uzbekistan through a number of institutional, organizational, and technical level capacity building initiatives.

Part of the technical capacity building is to be implemented through study tours for the managerial level officials of the Ministry of Finance and its regional branches. The trainings are aimed at increasing the efficiency of local budgeting process as well as familiarization with the medium-term and performance-based budgeting principles and lessons learned.

In this regard the Project on 11-20 July 2011 organized a study tour to the Czech Republic for 14 regional representatives of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The study tour covered the Czech budget system reform experience particularly in light of the EU requirements. The training held on at the Institute of Economics and Management, Prague.

It should be noted that the Project has already completed study tours for 34 representatives of the Ministry of Finance in different European countries.
