Uzbek Finance Ministry, World Bank discuss realization of joint projects

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A meeting with a delegation of the World Bank Group (WB) headed by Cyril Muller, Vice-President for Europe and Central Asia was held at the Ministry of Finance, on February 26.

Cyril Muller holds this post from July 1, 2015. Previously, from 2011 to 2015, he was Vice President for External and Corporate Relations, the Uzbek Finance Ministry said in a statement.

Lilia Burunchuk, World Bank Regional Director for Central Asia, Hideki Mori, Head of the WB Office in Uzbekistan, and Stephen Joey, Special Assistant to the Vice President, also participated in the meeting from the side of the guests.

At the beginning of the meeting, the head of the delegation congratulated the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Finance of the Republic, Jamshid Kuchkarov with the successful release of sovereign Eurobonds.

It was noted that at the meeting of Cyril Muller with the leadership of our country in July 2018, was reached an agreement on the provision of technical assistance by the World Bank in the field of economic policy coordination.

The current negotiations discussed the implementation of joint IBL projects (the Loan for Institutional Development, aimed at strengthening the management of public finances and state enterprises, as well as their privatization) and the DPO (Operations in support of market reform development policies), as well as the activities of the Economic Council to ensure the implementation of the "Roadmap" of the main areas of structural reforms of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the period 2019-2021. It was created by Presidential Decree "On additional measures to ensure the further development of the economy and increase the effectiveness of economic policy" dated January 8, 2019.
