Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Films of young Uzbek filmmakers for the first time won the DigiCon6 Asia Awards 2019.
Makhliyo Askaralieva’s “Gift” film received the “Next Generation” award and the cash prize of the prestigious international short film festival DigiCon6 Asia Awards 2019, held in Hong Kong. The film won first place among the works created by young directors in Asia under the age of 25 years.
The film of Shakir Halikov “Tea” was awarded at once in two categories of the festival. The film became the best among the countries participating in the Asian region, having received the prize "Regional Golden Winner" and the second most important prize after the Grand Prix of the Festival.
Films of young filmmakers from Uzbekistan, taking part in the DigiCon6 Asia Awards 2019 for the first time, captivated the hearts of viewers and the jury.

“It is symbolic that our young filmmakers won the victory precisely on the eve of the state visit of the President of our country to Japan. The film "Tea" by Shakir Halikov, previously received the Cannes Film Festival award, and now has won high awards in Hong Kong. It is gratifying to say that the film will be shown on the central Japanese TV channel, and this is especially important for the development of Japanese knowledge about Uzbekistan,” Firdavs Abdukhalikov, Director General of Uzbekkino, said.
It should be noted that the film festival brought together young talented filmmakers from Japan, China, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, the islands of Taiwan, Thailand and Uzbekistan.
