In a statement issued on the eve of Uzbekistan’s 18th Independence Day, the ambassador said Uzbekistan had earlier asked Pakistan to provide transport facilities at its ports.

He said the federal cabinet had also ratified the transit trade agreement with Uzbekistan, which would prove instrumental in promoting trade relations between the two countries.

The ambassador said both countries enjoyed friendly relations based on deep-rooted historical interactions and brotherhood, Daily Times (Pakistan) reported.

He said several bilateral visits of the top leadership had taken place in the past.
