During a meeting, the sides discussed current state of and prospects for relations between Uzbekistan and the EU in various fields.
The EC president highlighted the importance attached by the European side to developing and boosting relations with Uzbekistan, which is an important country in Central Asia.
The sides acknowledged that there was an unused potential to further expand mutually-beneficial cooperation, step up political and economic contacts and increase the efficiency of collaboration in countering the current common threats and challenges, including within the EU Strategy for Central Asia.
During the meeting, Jose Manuel Barroso expressed the confidence that relations between Uzbekistan and the EU would progressively develop and strengthen in the future.
