Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 3 September 2021, Finance Minister Timur Ishmetov met with Finance Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt Mohammed Maait, who arrived in Tashkent within the framework of the 46th annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB).

The meeting, held at the Ministry of Finance, was also attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Uzbekistan Amira Fahmi, Adviser to the Minister of Finance Hossam Hussein Ismail and other officials.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the experience of the two countries in the field of tax and customs administration. At the same time, Muhammad Maait was informed about the work done on the development of the private sector in Uzbekistan and the expansion of the scale of structures based on public-private partnerships in various fields.

Special attention was paid to the topic of social protection of the population, as well as the information system “Unified Register of Social Protection”introduced in Uzbekistan. The parties analyzed Egypt's experience in diversifying social assistance programs for the population.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to constantly exchange experience and expand areas of cooperation.
