Uzbek DPM holds meeting with representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 11 February this year, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov held a meeting with the Managing Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for Central Asia, Ms. Zhuzhanna Hargitai.

The meeting was also attended by First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Ilhom Norkulov, Deputy Minister Bobur Abdinazarov, Head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in Uzbekistan Alkis Drakinos, international and local experts from the EBRD.

During the meeting, the parties discussed current and promising projects aimed at providing employment and increasing incomes of the population, as well as ensuring "green growth" in the economy, in particular, the use of green energy sources at large enterprises, the production of electric vehicles, the development of the mining industry based on foreign experience, establishing the production of new products, improving the transportation of gas products, reducing methane emissions. The issues of privatization and transformation of state assets by improving financing mechanisms in the private sector were also discussed.

Also, during the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan, in particular, on the development of small and medium-sized businesses through the formation of the necessary skills among the population, social support, the effective use of household land and greenhouses, support for dehkan activities, new procedures for the allocation of agricultural land based on rent.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation./
