Uzbek delegation visits Pakistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From 23 to 24 October 2024, a delegation led by Khalimjon Safarov, Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, visited Pakistan.

The visit was organized with the support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Pakistan and included meetings with representatives from various government and private institutions, as well as Pakistani companies.

At a business forum chaired by Usman Shavkat, head of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the parties agreed to expand cooperation in areas such as pharmaceuticals, textiles, agriculture, chemical industry, and building materials.

Chamber members and Uzbek entrepreneurs signed a number of trade contracts and a memorandum of cooperation between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and Rawalpindi.

As part of the business forum, joint projects in tourism, energy, chemistry, jewelry, and information technology were identified with the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The discussions also covered the expansion of mutual trade with the aim of reaching a volume of $1 billion.

Chamber Chairman Nasir Qureshi expressed confidence that the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce would contribute to the development of tourism flows between the two countries and promote pilgrimage tourism to Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, and other historical cities of Uzbekistan.

Additionally, negotiations took place with leaders of major companies such as Wah Nobel, Nimir Group, Aziya Ariya, and with Ali Tahir, First Deputy Minister of Food Security of Pakistan.

An agreement was reached for regular information exchange regarding increasing the export volumes of minerals produced in Uzbekistan between the Ministry of Food Security and JSC “Uzqimyo sanoat.”

On 24 October, a demonstration of Uzbekistan’s textile and footwear products took place in Karachi as part of the TEXPO Pakistan exhibition.

As a result of B2B meetings organized with the support of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, trade contracts were signed with Pakistani companies Diners, Fateh, Nishat, and Diamond Group in the fields of textiles, leather goods, agriculture, and food products.
