Uzbek delegation meets with the newly appointed President of the Asian Development Bank

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 3 December, during the visit of the delegation of Uzbekistan to Japan, a meeting was held with the former Deputy Minister of Finance of Japan, the newly appointed President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Masatsugu Asakawa.

ADB, having successfully developed its activities in the country since 1995, is one of the key partners of Uzbekistan - the total portfolio to date has amounted to 62 projects with funding of more than US$7 billion.

These indicators indicate a significant investment capacity of the country’s economy and high potential for further expansion of cooperation, in connection with which during the meeting the priority areas of interaction were discussed - health, education, water resources management, agriculture, the financial sector and energy, in order to identify new ADB funding initiatives.

It was noted that due to the growing dynamics of the development of borrowed funds from ADB (in 2018, the growth in the volume of disbursements amounted to 210% compared to the previous year), currently there are all the prerequisites for considering new projects for study and development.

Following the meeting, agreements were reached on further development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and ADB, bearing in mind the accelerated implementation of ongoing projects and the launch of new promising initiatives.
