Uzbek customs officers detain low-quality medicaments
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Customs officers of Uzbekistan revealed 161 facts of illegal movement of low-quality medicaments for 1.2 billion soums in eight months of 2011, the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan said.

The committee said that customs officers of Namangan region inspected Gaz-53 truck and found 19,700 units of Cefazolin and 19,200 units of Ceftriaxone for total sum of 37 million soums. The owner of the products, Azamjon A., had no documents for medicaments and tried to bring them from neighbouring state.

Customs officers detained 6,142 units of medicaments such as Ambrobene, Contrical, Octavigen, Cerakson, Kleksan and Karteksin. The officers found the medicaments in Tashkent region during the raid. The cost of the medicaments makes up 9.5 million soums.

At Andijan Airport, the custom officers detained Uzbek citizen Kinarik B., who arrived in from Moscow, and detained 100 units of Phenazepamum.

Similar medicament was found during customs inspection of Uzbek citizen Ravshanoy G. She tried to smuggle 100 units of Phenazepamum without declaring them.

In line with the decision of the Government of Uzbekistan, Phenazepamum is drug substance and its circulation of Uzbekistan is banned.

The Customs Committee said that customs investigations are underway on these cases.
