Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On the sidelines of the World Food Forum, taking place on 16-20 October at the FAO Headquarters in Rome, a special side event was held dedicated to the role of agri-food education in transforming food systems in Uzbekistan.
A youth delegation of students from the Tashkent State Agrarian University and employees of the FAO office in Uzbekistan took an active part in it.
The World Food Forum, which features events, dialogues, and even laboratories on youth, science, innovation, and investment, brought together world leaders, experts, representatives of international financial institutions and the private sector, public figures, young people, and activists.
The side event of Uzbekistan was organized by the Embassy of the country in Italy together with the FAO Country Office in Uzbekistan and the Tashkent State Agrarian University.
Uzbekistan students shared their experiences and talked about their activities in solving problems related to agri-food systems. Visitors to the side event got acquainted with the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan and its influence on agricultural traditions, learned more about the opportunities that Uzbek youth have in education, and evaluated the country’s unique experience and progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
