Uzbek consumers complain more on communal service
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Territorial bodies of the State Committee of Uzbekistan on Demonopolization and Development of Competition received over 877 letters and 1,919 phone calls to hotlines in January-May 2011.

The committee said that 434 of letters (50%) fell to share of complaints about communal services, 302 (34.4%) – trade and catering, 65 (74%) – transport, communication services, and 76 (8.7%) – other problems.

Main part of complaints on communal services (197 letters) fell to share of problems with gas supply, including 128 letters (65%) were related to unfounded accrued debts, 26 (13.2%) – suspension of gas supply for a long time. At the same time, 33 (41%) of 88 letters on electricity supplies are related to unfounded accrued debts and 20 (33%) of appeals on heat supply were about heating issues and low temperature of hot water.

Majority part (60%) of 302 appeals on trade and catering are related with sales of food products and 63 (35%) of them are complaining of high prices and 39 (22%) are complaining of refusal to accept banking payment cards.

Also 46 complaints were related to sales of home appliances, including 39 (85%) were related to sales of goods with defects and refusal to replace producing during guarantee term or return money.

The committee said that it adopted corresponding measures to protect interest of consumers on 826 phone calls of total 1,910 and provide explanations on 1,084 calls.

Besides, the company received appeals to its specialized web-portal. The committee said that 25% of them were related to trade and catering, 21% to communication services and 17% to work of shirkats. The committee said that 83% of them were reviewed and others are under consideration. The results of reviews are placed on portal.
