Uzbek commercial banks emit over 7m banking payment cards

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Currently, number of banking payment cards, issued into circulation by commercial banks, made up over 7 million, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan said. The figure grew 3.8 times compared with 2006.

The Central Bank said that number of POS-terminals is increasing along with the banking payment cards. If number of POS-terminals made up 11,487, their number now reached 85,761 units.

The regulator said that types and number of transactions with banking payment cards is increasing. In the first quarter of 2011, the volume of cashless payments made up over 2 trillion soums, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.
