Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Izbaskan District Court of Andijan Region has reviewed a criminal case against Uzbek national Kh. Kh., born in 1985, who was charged with participating in armed conflict on the territory of a foreign state.

According to case materials, in June 2019, Kh. Kh. traveled to Russia as a labor migrant. In October 2023, he signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and underwent military training.

In July and August 2024, he took part in combat operations in Ukraine’s Luhansk region and in the city of Vovchansk, where he sustained injuries.

Following treatment in Russian military hospitals, he illegally crossed the state border and returned to Uzbekistan.

During the court hearing, the defendant admitted guilt, gave detailed testimony, expressed remorse, and confirmed that he had received a Russian passport but had not renounced his Uzbek citizenship.

The court found Kh. Kh. guilty under three articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan:

Part 1 of Article 154 (participation in armed formations of other states);

Part 1 of Article 154-1 (military service in a foreign state);

Part 1 of Article 223 (illegal crossing of the state border).

Taking into account the totality of the offenses and in accordance with Article 59 of the Criminal Code, the court sentenced Kh. Kh. to 3 years and 1 month of imprisonment to be served in a general-regime correctional colony.

Additionally, the court ordered the confiscated mobile phone used by the convict to be destroyed.
