Uzbek Citizen Killed in Istanbul: Consulate Comments on Incident

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 17 August 2025, a 35-year-old Uzbek citizen, N.S., temporarily working in Turkey and originally from Samarkand region, was killed in the Ümraniye district of Istanbul, Turkey. According to the Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Istanbul, the crime was committed by her husband, U.S., also an Uzbek citizen, out of jealousy, using a knife.

During the investigation, Istanbul police detained the suspect on the morning of August 18 in the Ümraniye district. Additionally, B.O., a native of Jizzakh region, was arrested on suspicion of assisting the perpetrator in concealing the crime.

On 19 August, the court ordered that both suspects be placed in custody. Investigative proceedings are ongoing.

The Uzbek Consulate stated that all necessary documents for repatriating the victim’s body to Uzbekistan have been completed, and the Migration Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers is providing full assistance in this matter.
