The committee said that on 29 June, around 10:30, drunken Kyrgyz border guard, serving at the border crossing at Dugoba settlement of Kadamjan district of Batken region (Kyrgyzstan) fired from submachine gun towards control-permission point of Uzbekistan, located at Mashalang settlement in Shahimardan enclave in Ferghana region.
In the result of the shooting, Uzbek border guard Sobir Davlatov from Bukhara region of Uzbekistan was wounded.
The border guard was hospitalized with two gunshot wounds. The committee stated that the Kyrgyz border guard violated agreements between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, as well as international norms, opening the fire into the territory of Uzbekistan.
On the same day, representatives of the border services at the regional level met. Representative of Kyrgyz border service Sharsheev expressed apology to the Uzbek side for the incident after familiarizing with the case.
The Uzbek side will open criminal case on the incident, the press service of the committee underlined.
