The financial regulator said that about 36,900 terminals were installed at trade and service points to organize effective use with the banking cards.
The Central Bank of Uzbekistan said the number of issued banking cards rose by 30% year-on-year and number of terminals grew by 99% year-on-year. The bank said transactions through terminals and ATMs grew threefold year-on-year.
The regulator underlined that the commercial banks of Uzbekistan are planning to increase number of terminals at trade and service points to 60,000 as of 1 January 2010.
