Uzbek banks issue loans for 1.6 trln. soums to agriculture goods production
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Preferential loans for almost 1.6 trillion soums were issued in Uzbekistan in 2011 to production of various types of agriculture goods. This was announced at the press conference of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, organized in partnership with Agrobank.

In particular, the volume of loans, issued to production of cotton, made up 1.2 trillion soums and for grain production – over 400 billion soums.

During the press conference, the sides gave detailed information on the work of banking system and plans for financial supporting agriculture sector.

It was noted that repair and rehabilitation works at 10,530 km of collector-drainage networks for 59 billion soums within the state programme on improvement of land-reclamation of irrigated lands for 2008-2012. In the result, the conditions of 1 million hectares of irrigated lands were improved.

Dehkan and farm entities, enterprises on processing fruits and vegetables are actively use leasing services. The banks fully executed leasing agreements for 28.9 billion soums, which were signed at Agrominitehexpo-2011.

This year, the bank financed projects on developing production of fruit and vegetable production, as well as creation of greenhouses worth 70.1 billion soums, which allowed to create new gardens, vineyard, as well as 416 greenhouses.

About 75 special storehouses and objects were constructed or modernized due to loans of the bank in 2011. In the result, the export of fruit and vegetable grew by 31.6%.

The loan resources of commercial banks at the volume of 11.6 billion soums were directed to developing beekeeping and fishing. The loan portfolio of banks included projects, directed at improving caracul, cattle breeding and seed-farming.

The commercial banks directed loans for 188.3 billion soums to development of cattle breeding and poultry. In nine months of 2011, total number of cattle grew by 6% year-on-year, while meat and milk production increased by 6.9% and 7.2% respectively, and eggs – 13%.

Significant loan resources, issued to dehkan and farm entities, or 205 billion soums were allocated to purchase of agriculture equipment, technology, seeds and saplings, fuel-lubricants, mineral fertilizers, etc.

Besides, the volume of banking loans, issued to agriculture goods processing enterprises, increased. In 2011, the banks allocated 615 billion soums to such enterprises.
