Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Delegations from the customs services of Uzbekistan and Afghanistan held a meeting at the International Trade Center "Termiz," located on the border of the two countries.

The meeting was organized at the initiative of the customs service of Balkh, Afghanistan, and involved the heads of the customs administrations of Surkhandarya, Uzbekistan — Izzatulla Gulomov, and Balkh, Afghanistan — Bilal Muhammad Abdullah.

The main topics of discussion included issues related to the activities of Afghan entrepreneurs passing through customs control, as well as foreign exchange operations, certification of permits, and increasing trade volumes. Opinions, suggestions, and comments were exchanged on these matters.

During the meeting, gratitude was expressed for the warm and friendly relations between the two countries, which are actively supported by Uzbekistan.

The International Trade Center "Termiz" is a free trade zone on the border of Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, aimed at fostering economic ties between the two nations. The center continually works to improve conditions for citizens and entrepreneurs from both sides.

It was noted that currently, more than 2,000 Afghan citizens visit the trade zone daily. Despite the center only having opened in August 2024, exports to Afghanistan through the center have already reached US$15.5 million.
