Uzavtosanoat says price hike for cars not to affect demand
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Prices for GM Uzbekistan vehicles grew by 15% in average in early April 2010. Price increase is connected with objective reasons, head of Sales Department of Uzavtosanoat Tohir Jalilov commented.

Tohir Jalilov said global financial-economic crisis hit automobile industries of many countries and many giant companies became bankrupt.

He added that the Government of Uzbekistan adopted anticrisis measures allowed automobile industry to survive and implement all tasks on strategic development of the production.

Tohir Jalilov said Uzbekistan is continuing to cooperate with foreign partners in production of some spare parts and components despite significant localization programme. He said that the prices for components increased, which is partially due to growth of energy resources in the world. Of course, this reflects on prime cost of GM Uzbekistan products, he said.

Uzavtosanoat official added that the price hike will not affect demand for locally-made vehicles. “Market situations dictate offer”, he added.

As earlier reported, GM Uzbekistan increased vehicle production by 3.6% year-on-year in the first three months of 2010 to 42,712 units.
