Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Committee for the Development of Competition and Protection of Consumer Rights of Uzbekistan has mandated UzAuto Motors and its dealer to recall 37 Lacetti cars for technical inspection due to potential defects.
The decision follows a complaint from a resident of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, A.D., who reported that their Lacetti L-Style MT 2023, purchased from UzAuto Motors, caught fire less than five months after purchase due to a defect. The manufacturer did not address the issue in a timely manner.
The antimonopoly committee confirmed the violation upon reviewing the complaint and identified another instance of a Lacetti vehicle catching fire in the Navoi region.
The committee’s special commission initiated proceedings against UzAuto Motors and its dealer, PSM-Avtosavdo, for violating articles 14 and 20 of the Law "On Protection of Consumer Rights." As a result, a decision was made requiring the recall of 37 cars of the same model and production batch within 10 days for a technical inspection.
Additionally, the complainant was provided with a new Lacetti vehicle and awarded compensation of one percent of the car’s value for each day of delay since the complaint was filed.
If any party disagrees with the commission’s decision, they can appeal to the Committee’s Appeals Council or in court.
