Uzagromashservice, Minsk Motor Plant to create US$30m diesel engine plant

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan’s Uzagromashsevrice and Belarus’ Minsk Motor Plant (MMZ) plan to create by the end of the year a US$30 million plant to produce diesel engines, a representative in Uzagromashsevrice told Prime-Tass.

The production of diesel engines with an annual capacity of 10,000 units, will be established at OAO Motor Plant, in Tashkent.

The joint venture is part of the programme of technical upgrade of Uzbekistan’s production for 2009-2014 approved by President Islam Karimov.

Some 40% of the engines will be installed in tractors produced by OAO Tashkent Tractor Plant, and the rest will be supplied to the domestic market to service farm machines.

At the present time Uzbekistan imports diesel engines for its farm machines and maintenance services.
