The Russian company said that the UzACI accuses Uzdunrobita that its branches operated without licenses. Total sum of UzACI claims to Uzdunrobita is about US$210 million, which should be paid as license duties.
MTS said that Uzdunrobita in line with the legislation of Uzbekistan in ten days appealed decision of the Tashkent Economic Court from 30 July 2012 on suspension of the license of the operator for three months.
The UzACI without waiting decision of appealing body, submitted new application to Tashkent Economic Court on 9 August 2012 on abolishment of all licenses of Uzdunrobita due to operation of its branches without individual licenses. The court hearing will be held on 13 August 2012.
MTS stated that Uzdunrobita has been adhering to legislation of Uzbekistan since 2004, when it started operations in Uzbekistan, which is approved by many inspections of the UzACI and other regulating bodies of Uzbekistan.
MTS also said that Prosecutor-General’s Office in Uzbekistan issued a resolution on arrest of all accounts of Uzdunrobita, used for payment of expenses till the end of investigation and decision of the court. The accounts of the operator are located at National Bank of Uzbekistan for Foreign Economic Activity.
According to MTS, subscribers of the operator will not be able to return their money in their accounts at the company.
