Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 13 November 2024, a meeting took place at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) with the Ambassador of the European Union to Uzbekistan, Toivo Klaar.

The meeting was attended by the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, UWED Rector Sodik Safaev, First Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Akram Umarov, and Vice Rector for Science and Innovation Gulnosa Ismailova.

During the meeting, the parties discussed key aspects of cooperation in scientific and educational programs, as well as opportunities for enhancing partnerships between educational institutions in Uzbekistan and Europe.

Ambassador Klaar emphasized that such cooperation opens new horizons for joint initiatives and experience exchange. 

The participants particularly highlighted the prospects for expanding UWED’s partnership with leading European universities, aimed at developing academic programs and research projects.

The Ambassador also praised the high level of preparation and the successful conduct of the Parliamentary elections in Uzbekistan, noting their significance for strengthening democratic processes in the country and enhancing its international standing.

The meeting between UWED leadership and the head of the EU diplomatic mission in Uzbekistan marked an important step toward deepening ties between Uzbekistan and the European Union in higher education and scientific research.
