An Uzbek delegation headed by Elyor Ganiev, Minister for Foreign Economic Relations, Investment and Trade, will be in attendance. According to Minister Ganiev, "Uzbekistan is one of the leading industrial nations in Central Asia and its economy has huge investment potential. Despite the global economic recession," continues Ganiev, "the Uzbek economy remains strong across a variety of sectors including agricultural production and machinery, auto manufacturing, biotechnology, construction materials, information and communications technology, mining, oil and natural gas production, pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, and textiles."
"The Investment Summit presents a unique forum for potential investors to explore specific opportunities in Uzbekistan," says Tim McGraw, Executive Vice President of NUKEM Inc., one of the featured speakers at the event. "The Uzbek government is highly motivated in its desire to attract direct foreign investment."
The conference will feature a variety of speakers from government as well as business and industry. In addition, Rudy Maxa, host of the popular PBS program "Rudy Maxa’s World," will debut his upcoming show on Uzbekistan, which will be televised in the spring of 2010. Mr. Maxa spent two weeks on location in Uzbekistan filming the country and its wonderful Silk Road destinations.
The American Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce (AUCC) is a private, non-profit trade association representing the interests of US businesses ranging in size from small private enterprises to large, multinational corporations conducting business in Uzbekistan. The AUCC’s objective is to serve the needs of its members by strengthening commercial relations between the United States and Uzbekistan. The AUCC advocates the views of the business community to ensure that private sector positions are considered during the development of key policies that impact American businesses and the future of US-Uzbekistan relations.
