“The web of US bases envelops all regions of the world, including Europe. There are basses in Bulgaria and Romania, and more are to emerge in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. An active process is underway of pulling Georgia and Ukraine into NATO. Also, the United States has the obvious intention of trying to control facilities constituting Russia’s nuclear potential,” the chief of the general staff told an audience at the Military Sciences Academy.
“It is important to understand that in fact the scene of struggle is not in the West or the Far East. It is on Russia’s borders, inside the CIS, where combat-ready and well-armed forward deployment groups are being created, ready for being committed to action within a matter of hours.”
