During his visit, Special Representative Grossman thanked Foreign Minister Elyor Ganiev for Uzbekistan’s contributions to international efforts to promote security and reconstruction in Afghanistan.

The US Embassy in Tashkent said he also emphasized America’s long-term commitment to enduring partnerships with Afghanistan and Central Asia.

After his visit to the Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Grossman visited the Hasti-Imam Complex, where he expressed his great respect for Uzbekistan’s culture and Islamic heritage.

This was Ambassador Grossman’s first visit to Uzbekistan in his capacity as Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan.
