"Ural Tansykbaev: A Retrospective" — An exhibition bridging art and history

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From 19 March to 1 June 2025, the Abylkhan Kasteyev State Museum of Arts in Almaty will host the first large-scale exhibition of works by Ural Tansykbaev.

The exhibition is organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Kazakhstan and the Uzbekistan Cultural and Art Development Foundation.

This is the first retrospective in 40 years, featuring 78 pieces from museum collections in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. The display spans Tansykbaev's entire artistic journey, from his early works to his later masterpieces that have become classics of Central Asian art.

“Ural Tansykbaev is not just an artist—he is a symbol of an era, a bridge between the cultures of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. His works capture the spirit of the times, the beauty of nature, and the depth of human emotions. This exhibition is both a tribute to a great master and a reminder of how art unites nations,” stated Saida Mirziyoyeva, Assistant to the President of Uzbekistan, on her Telegram channel.

The exhibition will showcase Tansykbaev’s renowned landscapes, which celebrate the natural beauty of Central Asia, as well as lesser-known works demonstrating his experiments with form and color. Special attention will be given to his artistic period focused on the Virgin Lands Campaign, during which he created a series of works that became integral to Soviet-era art.

The program includes lectures, masterclasses, and guided tours, offering visitors a deeper insight into Ural Tansykbaev’s artistic legacy.

Additionally, organizers have announced the release of a catalog featuring all exhibited works along with rare archival materials.

Saida Mirziyoyeva emphasized that this event marks another step in strengthening cultural ties between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, underscoring the idea that art knows no borders.
