Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Zurab Pololikashvili, the Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), has arrived in Samarkand.
The guest was welcomed by Aziz Abdukhakimov, the Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the UNWTO General Assembly in Samarkand, and Umid Shodiyev, the Chairman of the Tourism Committee.
Zurab Pololikashvili has visited Uzbekistan several times. In particular, from November 4th to 7th last year, the UNWTO Secretary-General participated in the II International Economic Forum of Uzbekistan in Samarkand. During the forum, he visited the "Eternal City," the Konigil tourist village, the International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage “Silk road”, the Registan Square, the Mausoleum of Amir Timur, and the observatory of Ulugbek.
During his visit to Tashkent, Zurab Pololikashvili also laid flowers at the statue of the renowned Georgian poet Shota Rustaveli, got acquainted with the tourist potential of the "New Uzbekistan" Park and the Amirsoy ski resort and participated in a business meeting on the topic of "New Initiatives for the Development of Tourism in Uzbekistan."
