Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  In the early hours of 26 October at approximately 1:40 a.m., unknown assailants opened fire on a Range Rover SUV in Kibray district of Tashkent region before fleeing the scene, according to a statement from the Prosecutor General’s Office of Uzbekistan.

According to official information, the vehicle was being driven by a chauffeur, identified as S.S., and there were no injuries reported. The type of weapon used in the incident has yet to be determined.

Previously, several media outlets suggested that Komil Allamjonov, former head of the Presidential Administration’s Information Policy Department, former Deputy Chief of Staff, Director of the Agency of Information and Mass Communications, and the President’s press secretary, may have been in the vehicle at the time. Reports indicated that the incident occurred near his residence.

A criminal case has been opened under Article 97 in conjunction with Article 25 of the Criminal Code — attempted premeditated murder.

Currently, a search operation is underway in the area to identify and apprehend the suspects.

"An operational-investigative group composed of qualified personnel from various agencies has been formed, and active investigative actions are ongoing," stated the Prosecutor’s Office.
