Universiade in Rhine-Ruhr: Takhmina Ikromova Wins Long-Awaited Gold for Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Great news has arrived from Germany, where the Summer Universiade games are currently taking place. After a six-year break, Uzbekistan’s delegation has once again claimed a gold medal — earned by rhythmic gymnast Takhmina Ikromova.
Competing in the hoop routine, Takhmina delivered a brilliant performance, scoring the highest points and securing the first gold medal for Uzbekistan at this year’s Universiade. This victory is especially significant given the six-year wait for gold by the Uzbek delegation.
On the same day, she also earned a silver medal in the clubs routine, adding to the national team’s medal count.
Later, Takhmina delivered another top-tier performance in the ribbon routine, earning her second gold medal of the games.
As of today, Uzbekistan’s delegation at the Rhine-Ruhr Universiade holds a total of two gold and three silver medals.
