Speaking at conference “UNIStream money transfers: 10 years opening new opportunities”, Souren Hayriyan said that incoming transactions in Uzbekistan reached US$568 million in 2010, and outgoing – US$29 million in 2010. The number of remittances reached 940,000.
He underlined that according to forecasts of UNIStream, the volume of money transfers between Uzbekistan and Russia will make up US$2.735 billion in 2010 (US$2.28 billion in 2009), of which US$2.509 billion (2.052 billion in 2009) are incoming transfers and US$226 million (US$228 million in 2009) – outgoing.
UNIStream President said that Uzbekistan is strategic partner for the company. He said that currently the system cooperates with 14 banks in Uzbekistan and renders services through 1,200 points.
Speaking about development strategy in Uzbekistan, Souren Hayriyan said that the system is planning to introduce new technologies and expand new sales channels. In particular, UNIStream plans to introduce UNIStream client cards in March 2011.
UNIStream launched these cards in August 2010 and for last six months some 400,000 cards were issued in Russia. Hayriyan underlined that introduction of the cards helped to decrease registration period of transactions to two minutes and minimize mistakes at registrations. The system said that the cards are used in 75 of 100 transactions in Uzbekistan.
During the conference, UNIStream awarded its partners in Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan Banking Association was awarded “For active work with UNIStream”. Agrobank, Bank Credit Standards and Aloqabank were awarded for fruitful work.
Trustbank received diploma for stable business development, Uzpromstroybank for high service level and InFinBank for dynamic development. Hamkorbank got diploma for the highest volume of money transfers, while Kapitalbank and Bank Ipak Yuli were named leaders in addressless money transfers.
During the conference, the participants discussed results of the system in 2010 and perspectives in 2011, as well as cooperation issues. UNIStream also presented its innovative products.
UNIStream International Money Transfer System was launched in 2001. Currently, the system is one of the largest money transfer systems in the world. Its share in the CIS market makes u 25%.
According to the company, the turnover of the system in 2010 made up US$3.92 billion and number of transactions – 6.1 million.
