UNESCO organizes an international training seminar on strengthening the protection of cultural heritage in the region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- From 5 to 7 June 2023 in Tashkent, UNESCO organizes a regional seminar on the topic: "Combating illicit trafficking in cultural property in Central Asia and Afghanistan: training to build the capacity of law enforcement and judicial authorities".

This seminar will serve to increase the necessary knowledge and skills of responsible officials through regional cooperation by creating a network of information exchange and coordination of actions to seize illegally sold cultural property.

This seminar brings together law enforcement and judicial officials from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Iran (Islamic Republic of), Pakistan, as well as Afghan participants living in Europe, in order to enrich the necessary knowledge and skills in the field of combating illegal circulation of cultural property.

The workshop, organized in cooperation with INTERPOL, the World Customs Organization (WCO) and the International Council of Museums (ICOM), aims to develop regional cooperation through the creation of a network that facilitates the exchange of information and coordination of actions to seize illegally sold cultural property.

It should be noted that this training seminar will serve as an important step in raising the fight against illicit trafficking in cultural property to a new level, as well as preventing their theft and forgery.
