Late last month, UNESCO signed a memorandum of understanding with the Interstate Fund for Cooperation in the Humanities of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Russian presidential aide Dzhakhan Polliyeva said: "Cooperation in the field of the humanities within the CIS is based on principles that have from the very start been similar to those underlying the activities of UNESCO.
