Uzbekistan 26/03/2009 UNDP to conducting advanced training on Human Development for university teachers

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- From 30 March to 10 April 2009 UNDP together with the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) is planning to conduct Training for Trainers (ToT) on Human Development. This initiative is in line with UNDP’s efforts to introduce Human Development concept to the curricula of higher educational establishments.

UNDP in Uzbekistan actively promotes Human Development concept among the wide range of population. From 2008 to present time a number of important results were achieved in this direction. This ToT will be conducted in the context of joint work with the higher educational establishments aiming at enhancing knowledge of University teachers and support introduction of Human Development course.

About 40 participants - teachers of leading higher educational establishments of Uzbekistan, such as Tashkent State Economic University, International Westminster University, Tashkent State Pedagogic University, Tashkent Financial Institute, Uzbekistan State University of World Languages, Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, Tashkent State Institute of Law, Tashkent State Institute of Culture, Academy named after Prekhanov, as well as Training Centre of the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investment and Trade, and the Academy of State and Social Construction will take part in this training.

The main objective of the ToT is to strengthen knowledge and skills of teachers from main Universities of Uzbekistan as well as to prepare trainers for introducing Human Development discipline to the University curriculum.

The ToT is aimed is to strengthening knowledge and skills not only in the sphere of economy but also in environment, healthcare, law, etc in conjunction with human development approach. Teachers can intergardte acquired knowledge into teaching modules and disciplines like “National and International Economy”, “Macroeconomics”, “Economics of Human Recourses”, “Labor Economy”, “Human Recourse Management”, “Living standards of population”, “Statistics”,

A number of certified trainers will be prepared, thus supporting introduction of Human Development discipline and adapting it to the needs of a particular University, as well as promoting Human Development Concept among different target groups (including civil servants) in the regions of Uzbekistan.
