Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The COVID-19 pandemic is imposing an impact on young people’s opportunities around the world and in Uzbekistan including their chances to learn and acquire new skills that are required to professionally succeed.
On International Youth Day, August 12, the international Technovation Girls program, implemented in Uzbekistan since 2016, in partnership with the UNDP project "Youth for Social Harmony in the Ferghana Valley", announces the launch of applications for free online trainings for girls and their mentors in Andijan, Namangan and Ferghana.
Trainings’ objective is to assist girls aged 16-18 in acquiring knowledge and skills in the field of information technology, promoting female role models in STEM, strengthening gender equality and empowering women and girls, providing quality education and creating a community of women and girls in STEM as well as innovation in the region. IT and technology are the professions of the future! The knowledge gained will give girls the opportunity to find a worthy place in the competitive labor market.
Trainings will also be held for mentors. Mentors can be students, teachers, IT specialists, aged from 19 to 32 years.
The Technovation Ferghana Valley training program is designed for 4 months of online classes. The webinars will be hosted by local and international experts on the following topics:
● mobile applications programming;
● business plan creation;
● video shooting;
● making presentations;
● mentoring;
● career in IT;
● Sustainable Development Goals.
The selection of participants and mentors is carried out on a competitive basis. Deadline for applications is August 20 COB via the website www.technovation.uz, only for residents of the Ferghana Valley
For other regions of Uzbekistan, registration for the Technovation Girls-2021 contest will open in October 2020

Technovation Girls is the largest and most popular technology program for girls around the globe. Program website: https://technovationchallenge.org. The program has been implemented in Uzbekistan since 2016. During this period, 120 teams have created mobile applications. More than 1,200 girls, with the support of 200 mentors, underwent trainings, more than 50 events were held
Technovation participants, girls aged 10-18, from Tashkent and the regions of Uzbekistan, learn to solve socially significant problems with the help of technology and create innovative mobile applications in spheres closely relevant to the Sustainable Development Goals
Teams are supported by mentors who are entrepreneurs, teachers, university students and IT professionals. Each team creates a mobile application, writes a business plan for the project, shoots a video about the project and presents their project in the final stage of the competition
