Finance 07/09/2007 UNDP facilitates public discussion of draft Tax Code in new revision
A draft Tax Code of Uzbekistan in new revision is available online for public discussion. Finance Ministry of Uzbekistan developed new revision of Tax Code on behalf of the government of Uzbekistan and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) rendered technical assistance to development of new Tax Code.

Assisting the Uzbek Government in development of new revision of Tax Code, UNDP focused on promotion of transparency and active participation of all layers of Uzbek society in this process, simplification of tax system and make it more comprehensive.

New Tax Code incorporates visions of all stakeholders, including the representatives of private sector, international community and NGOs.

Tax Code is unified document and it is law of direct implementation, which determines entire system of taxes and compulsory payments.

New Revision is a unified Tax Code, which is a directly applicable law defining the entire system of taxes and levies. The document includes provisions that aimed at fighting with discriminating and unequal approaches to different types of activities and categories of tax payers. The procedures for reducing tax burden are developed through decreasing some tax rates and tax base.

UNDP’s project "Public Finance Reform in Uzbekistan" published new revision of Tax Code at its website, located at www.publicfinance.uz. The website also includes link to interactive forum, where people leave their feedbacks on new Tax Code to working group, which is elaborating this document.

Specialists on tax legislation, accountants, auditors, entrepreneurs and any ordinary tax-payers are welcomed to share their interesting ideas and constrictive proposals on improvement of Tax Code.

The working group will review and consider any proposals and recommendations during further revision of the Tax Code. It is expected that Representatives of Finance Ministry will answer any questions regarding new Tax Code through forum.
