UNDP, Beeline partner to hold training on ICT for elder people
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Single communication operator Beeline (Unitel LLC and Buzton JV) supported the realization of training programme “Basics of computer literacy”, which was developed by UNDP’s ICTP project for elder people.

The ICTP volunteers conducted the training from 27 April to 17 May at the computer center of the Tashkent Architecture and Construction Institute. Elder people and members of Social Veterans Social Support Fund Nuroniy participated at the training.

Chairman of the Central Council of Nuroniy Erkin Bakibaev said: “We value attention by the international organization and largest company. It is great that along with traditional support, there is interest to expanding knowledge of veterans and attracting them to modern life. Thanks to UNDP and Unitel, with which we held several joint actions this year.”

The main aim of the project was to help elder generation to communicate and self-expression with use of the information and communication technologies.

Bakhodir Ayupov, manager on development project potential of ICTP project, said that the value of the training is that it was adapted to interests and needs of the auditory. He said the promotion of the IST among elder people expands their opportunities and perspectives of the society as a whole.

The operator said it presented opportunities of mobile Internet of Beeline. The participants got acquainted with 3G modem and Click tariff line.

Unitel Senior Communications Manager Oraz Abdurazakov said that the participation in such serious event is important experience for the company. He expressed gratitude to UNDP for invitations. “Introduction of internet technologies among population without any age limits is our common goal and we hope to continue and develop our cooperation”, he said.

At the end of the training, the participants received UNDP certificates and souvenirs from Beeline.
