UNDP and the IsDB discuss completion of social infrastructure projects in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan Akiko Fujii held a meeting with a delegation from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), led by Head of the Operational Team Wahyu Wijayanto.
During the negotiations, the parties discussed the implementation of a joint project aimed at promoting sustainable development in rural areas of the country.
According to Wahyu Wijayanto, UNDP and IsDB have reached a key milestone—the completion of the first infrastructure projects included in Community Development Plans. The next critical task is ensuring their effective operation. "It is essential to equip newly built clinics, kindergartens, and schools with qualified professionals so that they can provide real benefits to local residents. In this regard, we count on UNDP’s support," he emphasized.
The meeting also reaffirmed the commitment to further cooperation in the Aral Sea region, as well as in Samarkand, Surkhandarya, and Kashkadarya provinces, contributing to the development of rural infrastructure and the improvement of living standards.
