Co-authors of the resolution are Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan and Ukraine. The document welcomes project on creation of Trans-Eurasian Information Super Highway, which is directed at modernizing and diversifying telecommunication channels between Asia and Europe, UN News Center said.

Member-states proposed to support the project through attracting opportunities of state and private sectors.

The resolution takes into account proposal on creation of European Union on expanding mutual intercommunication in cooperation with International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

The document recalls regional meeting of communication ministers on Trans-Eurasian Information Super Highway, which was held on 11 November 2008 in Baku, Azerbaijanm in cooperation with the Department on Economic and Social Issues of UN Secretary. The resolution recalled creation of secretariat of the project on creation of Trans-Eurasian Information Super Highway in Baku.

The resolution underlined huge opportunities, which expand access to Internet in social development, including ensuring and expanding rights and opportunities of women and youth, as well as encouraging social integration and tolerance.

The Assembly recommends to member-states to participate in development of regional solutions in ensuring access to Internet. The resolution proposes international community to support efforts on expanding access to global telecommunication, paying special attention to countries, which have not full access to international broadband data transfer networks.

As other resolution of General Assembly, which passed by its main committee, this resolution will be transferred to plenary session. This is legal formality as committees includes representatives of all UN member states and voting at plenary sessions does not differ from voting in committees.
